I'm using the RS multi test for alk, calc, and mag.

The C reagent (goes in the syringe for titration) for alk says to return any remaining reagent to the bottle. Same thing with the calcium test. However, the mag test says to discard any remaining reagent in the syringe. Can anyone tell me why the difference?

Can anyone tell me why the difference?

Nope. It is general good lab practice to not return anything to stock bottles because returning fluids allows for mistakes (wrong bottle, contamination of other types) that you might not ever realize happened.

But, of course, tossing unused reagents is costly and that cost may be significant to many reefers.
