Hi guys!
I am new and still getting used to the forum and its functions :) as well as looking for some experience, so I have a question for you today:

Did you ever have a tank burst?

Like properly burst? Not just leaking, but popping because of random or even accidental touch/point pressure or similar reason? Meaning that the point of breaking and tank being empty was just a few second?
If so, I am also interested why that happened to you!

Would be happy to get some statistics on that from the poll :)

One of innovative marines first tanks was a 16 gallon with a curved 90 degree in the corners of the display instead of seams.

A couple years in the the curved corner just cracked all the way down and emptied in about 2 seconds.

Burst sounds a bit dramatic, but I've had the end panel fall out of a tank, after a while. Was the wife's fault, she broke the centre bracing on my 6ft tank. I may have had a little to do with it as I had a large surge device on the tank, lol. Just one of the reasons I will never have a braceless tank.

It happened to me with my 20 gallon IM long a decade ago. The mp10s were still new at the time and I didn't secure it to the dry side which caused it to rattle (audible but nothing that was alarming at the time).. Then woke up to the entire thing shattering and lost my entire tank. The good thing is that I had a spare aquarium I upgraded from but the emotional toll of seeing it in that state was heartbreaking.

Anyway, lesson learned.. moved on and learn more as catastrophes happen.
