putting Junior's basic photo sticky to work

I went back and completely reset my nikon d70 to the factory settings and then read thru Junior's basic photo sticky and this is what I ended up with.

these were taken with a nikon d70 on a tripod with the self timer on. they were shot in raw format then converted.

what do you think? I think they turned out ok but I still have alot to learn.

I would like for junior,posiedon to chime in and tell me what they think of them and give suggestions on what I need to do.

i think they look good.

Something to remember when focusing.

Always set your focus to start on the closest area of the subject (closest to the lens) and then use your aperture to decide how much beyond that point you want in focus.

What lens are you using?

thanks junior for commenting...that means alot from some that takes great pics...I am using I think the stock one that comes with the camra???? AF-S 18-70mm. How do I focus on the zoas in the first pic? they are close to the glass. If I set the camara next to the glass I can't get it to focus. I know the best would be a macro lense but I can't afford it right now...just got laid off.

also as I develope my pic taking skills how do I get my name on the pic? like your's and posideons

You are off to a good start, make sure to work within the limitations of you glass (lens). If your Zoa's are to close to the glass, you will either need to move the Zoa's or the camera.

Remember, the best place for a coral to grow, may not be the same place for getting good pictures.
