I purchased a used Jebao Dc12000 to increase the flow in my 120 to abate Triggerfish aggression. I was running it on the 4th setting because my overflow couldn't keep up with any higher. I bought a bigger overflow and today ran the pump full speed. Keep in mind the pump was making noise on the 5th setting despite being cleaned. Well only an hour or so of running it on high it completely quit. The power supply was very hot and I am letting it all cool down unplugged. I did take it apart and clean it prior to this. I was used but really clean when I got it just two weeks ago. I don't know if it will restart. I have a Jebao on my 90 but it was new when I got and no trouble. Any tips?

The primary benefit of a cheaper pump that may not last as long as a more expensive one is that when it breaks, you can just buy a new one. Sounds like maybe you got sold a broken pump.

It’s a cheap pump, they are not serviceable, replace it. I have 2 running full speed for 2 years, no noise no issues, I think there are probably just duds, I’m sure QC is not present

My DCP-4000 has been running 2+ years, completely silent and never cleaned yet.
My DC 4000 also is running no trouble. The DC12000 was making noise. I let it cool down. When plugged back in it lights up but then shuts off again.

A person who have let the pump run dry and then figured I will unload it (sell it) and at least pay half for a new one. This is possible but I do not know, my pump that went bad went into the trash.
You should not be using to return pump for flow, look into a Jebao OW25 if you have a 4 foot tank, you will be amazed on how much they can move.

I had a nice Gyre xf 120 and jump gyre 4000. But the problems were my anemones did not like them. They would always hide. I run two large power filters because I have three Triggers. So the gyre would crash into the 500 gph power filters and the anemones would hide.

Cleaned my DCP4000 last week, after over 2 years faultless service, looks like new. Keeping it as a dry spare return because the UV it used to power has been taken off line.

Take a Jebao DC pump apart and an Ecotech vectra. You will be shockingly surprised at the similarity’s in all components used. Jebao returns add as good if not better than Ecotech return pumps at 1/3 the cost.

I’ve had more Ecotech/aqua illumination products fail than Jebao products.

I sold all my eco tech returns and bought Jebao after trying them initially, all around better

I don’t take my pumps apart unless they quit working. Spray and Brush them off. Soak in Citric Acid, if possible overnight. Brush and Rinse off, then put back in service. I get a really long life‘s out of my pumps, no matter what the brand. Yes, I do have my favorites.
