Hey guys so I recently went to my LFS and had some questions on why my torch corals weren’t doing so hot. And one of my last posts I explain that I had a methane outbreak in my tank because I move some rock work and the corals were suffering fast forward some of them bleached, a few died. But some are coming back around. I don’t have a Red Sea reefer or anything like that I just have a 15 gallon running a hang on back filter with a prime light and a flow maker the LFS is saying that they don’t think I’ll be able to keep LPS corals without a protein skimmer. What do you guys think? I was having success in the past until the methane outbreak happened

I have a 15 gallon RFA/Softie tank, it has no skimmer, just a hob filter to run carbon, I change the water weekly, the tank is fine 9 months old now.

Honestly, the best skimmers all start at about 50 gallons size, which would be overkill on a 15 gallon. I have no luck with so-called nano skimmers, and just wasted my money buying a trying a couple.
