So as I was doing my nightly check on my DT I observed this. She had been at it for a while before I even thought to video it. So now I have this little pile of what I think are eggs. I guess they won't hatch into anything since my only other urchin in the tank is a tuxedo. Has anyone else had this happen?

For starters, they are egg layers but are extremely difficult to breed in an aquarium in captivity with no distinguishing characteristics to help differentiate it from its mate . If you see eggs, they will look like below:

I did notice my pincushin urchin having these little white balls about a month ago but in the video, which I cannot seen to download since I am currently on a flight, is literally dropping out of the urchin. I will post as soon as I am able.

Do you have a picture of the eggs? It might be a tasty treat to some fish..

I've seen my tuxedo spawning.. Kinda gross but this is what it looks like..

Yes I have a video but unable to download since I am on a flight. That spawning is really cool. My tuxedo has never done that. I will try to download again after I land.

So I just turned my light on in my DT to witness my urchin releasing tons of these balls. I got a few seconds of video. This is why I am up at 3am on reef to reef trying to figure our what is happening. I tried to attach the video but it says the files to big. Exact same thing that's happening to the original posters video.

Maybe the urchin is pooping ?

They poop little balls out of opposite hole of their " teeth" on top their bodies
If you watch the video In the very top of the original post, that is exactly what ot was doing. Just not sure what that is. If it's pooping, then holy **** that's a huge dump. I mean it did that for 30 seconds and just unloaded.

Unfortunately tried a few times to load video earlier and just now but just get a blank black screen ,this site needs videos to be hosted by another site like you tube for example usually before it will let videos be watched ,
But by your description alone sounds like it pooping ,I not got any urchins at moment as one died when one last holiday and someone looking after tank then second tuxedo urchin died few days after I came back from holiday bur unsure why tbh but used to see 20- 30 little balls coming out them sometimes and be a pile of balls on sandbed under them if hanging on certain Rocks so off course phone came out and videod it whilst zooming in lol as you do ha ha
