Got this purple knobby gorg on Wednesday and has looked like this ever since I got it out of the bag. Is part of it damaged? Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before. Such a cool shape!

Temp 77
Salinity 1.025
Ph 8
Ammonia and Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
Everything else doing wonderful!

Looks okay to me. What are you seeing?

Is it the part with no polyps? I wouldn't worry about that. Could take time. It looks healthy to me.

Your gorg looks good. They have a waxy coat that they shed every few days to protect themselves and usually don’t open during that time. With just that section of the branch being closed, it might be still shedding some of the waxy coat in that area. Or maybe it was laying on that side in particular during shipping and is still recovering.

This looks healthy to me, and worst case scenario, if that section of the branch starts to dies or starts to decay you can just cut it off with normal scissors.
