Hello,
I am trying to be diligent and getting mytank dialed in prior to adding corals. I admit to feeding on the heavy side. Skimmer is hob, no sump
Not sure if related ,My nitrates had been 10-20 maintained with water changes.
Ph 8.2, sg 1.025,
Trying to maintain alk low 9 range and have started to supplement a little kalk in top off water as it is starting to be used a little.
Calcium stays 490’s
Last week when nitrates had typically been 20 after a week no water change they were 5 (api and Hanna), no water change and a week later 6.6
Last week with Hanna I got 3 readings- well cleaned and directions followed (other than not careful about fingerprints on tubes): 0.9, 0.06 and 0.15
This week I got 0.62 then 0.22
Is there a more reliable way to check phosphates? Is there an obvious dummie mistake I may be making. I am taking water from an inch below water surface
Thanks very much.
Dan
