Get some to BRS for testing comparison to G5, Atlantik V2, Mitras and such. Lets see some objective data on this sucker, I am stoked for it.

BRS has had the CCG2 since December. It would be amazing to learn they've been quietly putting it through its paces this entire time. That could be an epic video!

Is the cat out of the bag? @Dana Riddle hinted he may get an opportunity to put the CCG2 to the test. But with the Coronavirus putting all of humanity to the test, I don't think any of us knew what might happen. Factories halted production, not to mention Philips/Signify has a higher calling in health technology these days.

But it sounds like things are happening once again. If memory serves, Dana will be testing the Radion G5 around the same time, so it will be interesting to see how they stack up.

The CCG2 light Dana will be testing is being donated to a non-profit organization. They, in turn, are loaning the light to Dana for scientific study. Once complete, he will ship the light back to the NPO. No money has been exchanged. No wheels have been greased.

I believe we share the same motivation which is to uncover the truth about the CoralCare Gen2. How does it compare to the old standards (T5/MH)? How does it compare to the new? Like the Radion, a light many US hobbyists consider to be the current Gold Standard in LED aquarium lighting.
I should note that the testing is free - I do not charge for my services.

@Bulk Reef Supply where is the videoooooooooo? :p

@Dana Riddle so do you have a CCG2 to test??

Thanks all!
Not yet, but it's my understanding one is in the works. The issue will be how to test - full power? Blue only? I plan to look at spectral qualities of LEDs, PAR, PUR, power consumption, light distribution patterns, etc.

Honestly I think a comparison at full power to some of the benchmark lighting sources would do. People just want to know if the passively cooled lights can do the job, not overhead, if these large panels really have the PAR and spectrum to work, and power consumption and such.

Maybe do one at full power and one with just the blues, or maybe the right thing to do is to try and match an AB+ spectrum and test at that (since it is almost an industry standard at this point)?

Thanks for doing this, I am an engineer and a geek and I like the data!

I’d vote full power similar to the ecoTechAB+ And kessil X full power. If the light wants to be a big dog it needs a fair comparison with the big dogs.
Show me the shimmer!!

I was ready to buy the v1 that unfortunately never made it to the US. the V2 is true generational improvement and will be the gold standard of LED lighting when it arrives.

If it were something I felt comfortable would run for 5-8 years without significant degradation in output and needing no servicing I’d even consider switching. 3 would do the trick on a 60”x24” footprint I bet. Not even need t5’s
