Hi, this morning I found my amazeballs goni all sucked in and saw a mat on it….I sucked out the mat with a turkey baster and took a video of it with a hobby microscope at 10X magnification….any idea what organism this is (see video)? Should I worry?

Looks like either planaria or detritius worms but wish they were raw and not microscope image

I don’t think you could see a bacteria with only 10x magnification. I am using Imgur to host the video, maybe that is why you cannot see the video.

Darren
I can’t see video on my phone. Just going by your description. A mat that you sucked out with a Turkey baster sounds like BJD. Have any pics?

Hi, what do you mean by “raw”? What are detritus worms? Any further reading suggestions on them?

Thanks
Darren
raw meaning actual worms and not microscope.

Detritus worms live in sandbed and populate due to either overfeeding or lack of maintenance. Increase siphoning usually puts an end to them

Bump this up….I cleaned it off and they came back, any recommendations? I am thinking of using flat worm exit to treat it as they look like flat worms to me. Weird thing is, they are only on this coral….

For what it’s worth I have about a dozen goni frags in my tank and one specific pastel pink frag is the magnet for planaria. Once a week I’ll siphon off 5-10 and then not see them for a few days before they start to accumulate again. Only other place I’ll see them is every now and then one on the glass. No idea why that one Goni, and it doesn’t seem to mind, but nature is funny like that sometimes.

My pink streaked wrasse jumped a few months ago and I never saw them when it was alive, so i assume it was keeping them at bay.
