Yes that is how I ran it. Low flow. Thanks for letting me know. I will unscrew those off and use in another application.

On my frag tank. I feed my calc reactor with 1/4 as well.

Did it work ok? Thats kind of an interesting idea. That way you can run a peristaltic pump to supply it…

The minimum flow required is 150gph. Lower than that then the light can get damaged and wouldn't really work growing chaeto anyway. As chaeto goes in I found I need to turn up flow as it's more dense in there.

Works just fine no issues. Had it hooked to submersible pump. You still get algae blown out the exhaust but easier to dial in. The light inside barely pulls 13watts so it's very efficient and it does not heat up your water whatsoever.

Just to be clear, I don't think there's a better unit than the N18. The Tunze tumbler comes close but as that thing grows it stops tumbling and you only get one side of the reactor getting any light.

The Pax's are 360 everywhere all at once kind of light.

Just so you know. I only ran this thing for like a month. I purchased the golf ball size chaeto from algae barn, so it doesn't take much water flow to go through the unit for that. It grew very nice during that time but it didn't fill the whole chamber up to a chia pet size chaeto during that small time either. I had a nice handfull to give to local reefer.

My guess is, if you ran with a peristaltic pump it would eventually stop working. As the chaeto grows and thickens up. I would guess you would need more flow pressure for the unit.
