Hi guys :) I am currently dosing Kalkwasser to try and keep up with my daily Alkalinity Uptake. I think im doing okay. But I do see a lot of swings throughout the day for these 3 parameters. Is that normal? Is there something I should be doing different? My Cal & Mag has always been high, not too sure why. I noticed last night especially a big jump in Alk and was just nervous lol. Maybe im overly cautious but just wanted to verify with more knowledgeable reefers that my parameter swings are okay? Am I adjusting my kalkwasser dosage amount too much and not letting things stabilize? I think with todays technology it just induces more anxiety because theres so much detail in the way we can reef, I should try to just keep things simple and not mess with it too much huh? Lol

You are fine. I’d bet a lot of this is just noise from the test method margin of error. The only one that is borderline concerning is the big drop at the beginning. The up/down oscillation by about 0.2-0.25 is nothing to be too concerned with IMO. Here is mine if it makes you feel better. I know my trident has an issue where it constantly oscillates, but I just watch for larger overall trending up or down to tell me when I need to adjust my dosing. So in my photo you can see I was seeing an overall downward trend I marked with a red arrow, so I knew I needed to increase my dosage as consumption had increased. The oscillation is just noise I try to ignore.

Oh nice!! Im going to start doing that lol, marking up my charts with lines to better identify trends and eliminate noise. Thanks so much! That big drop was due to a recent recalibration because I had just changed my reagants.

Thanks for this, I had the same issue.
Its really annoying and I’ve tried everything to fix my trident. I know its not normal but several folks have had the issue. I’ve given up on fixing it and just monitor trends now as I described. I bought my trident second-hand on ebay so not much I can do with Neptune to get it fixed.
