Besides they are dead! LOL!

I received the order and everything was warm and seemed to be just fine. The snails were moving the crabs, everything. Well something weird is happening and I can't put my finger on it. When I order snails in bulk I always pile them up in certain piles then as they move out I make sure they are all turned upright. My piles are not moving out. But when I touch them the snail inside will move so they are not dead but they won't move. Out of all the snails I got I haven't see one snail, not one on the glass of my aquarium in two days. Even in the night time when the lights are off. LOL! It's just weird.

Any ideas?

That's really weird - what kind of snails are they? Are your old snails moving or is it just the new ones? Were they shipped with a food source perhaps? If so, maybe their stomachs are full and they're sleeping it off :)

I would put some food near them once the lights are off.

They might just be in shock. I picked up some fish the other day and they would not even go near food for almost a week.

No all my other snails had died off. The snails are a mix of several different kinds.

Update: I took 5 snails out of the main that wasn't moving and added them to the frag tank. 4 out of 5 immediately started climbing the glass!!! What is up!

Something is definitely out of wack with the water params. Better get those test kits out and find out what's up. You haven't dosed any meds for ich have you?

I would move them close to the glass and separate a few and put them on a rock.

Does the wrasse go near them?

Not really. He was more interested in the hermits when I put them in.

snails are very finicky to water params. if your salinity is way different from where they have been housed, they needed to be acclimated. some snail species are actually like colder water temps and this is another reason they need to be acclimated to your water, i acclimate my new snalis for at least a hour using the drip method.

When I got a bunch of snails from reeftopia, the piles literally took about a week and a half to disperse. Especially the astrea snails, I kept flipping them and it seemed like they were never gonna move out on their own...eventually they did though. About a week and a half later there was not a single shell from a dead snail, just slow starters I guess. The only ones start quick for me are the little nassarius snails.

Ok that makes me feel a little better. I acclimated them for more than an hour.

Rev I've also had this happen to me when I bought snails in bulk. It took a few days for the piles to disappear.

I just purchased 60 mexican turbos last week from Live Aquaria. I floated them for 20 minutes and placed a few on the rocks and they were attaching right away. They even cleaned my new reef within 2 days. I always have the lights off though.
Rev were they in water or damp paper? Mine were in water.
