Once again, my poor judgment on placement might come back and bite me…

I think I may have placed this favia in a bad spot. It’s on one of my base rocks that’s supporting upper rocks that hold my SPS. The Duncan appears to be in a future danger zone as the favia is quickly encrusting closer to it. I really don’t have anywhere else to relocate the Duncan and would rather keep it there and figure out what to do with the favia. Has anyone had the 2 grow next to each other without issue? (Ignore the cyano…I need to get a little more flow in that area).

Your corals are super fluffy. The stingers on that war coral are short so you have a little time. But, seems it will inevitably have to move away from those non stingy corals

I can't imagine that ending well for the duncan.

And I'm still envious of that blasto! Time and patience, time and patience... lol
That’s pretty much what I’ve came to terms with.
That Blasto started out as a tiny dime size head that took a while to get going then exploded in growth.

Yea, it’s eventually going to make it’s way up to the base of the Duncan and start stinging it if I don’t figure something out and intervene.

Just chisel out a small chunk of rock to put in between. But tilt the chunk so it shades the war coral. That way it will slow or stop its growth in that direction cause of lack of light.
Exactly what I was thinking. I’ll epoxy/superglue a piece of rubble between the 2 and if it does go up and over, I’ll just break that piece of rock off and repeat.

The favia when more established can have 6” sweepers. Trust me.

Most of the time there are none

Sometimes there are short ones

Randomly, once in a while, they are 6”
This is a several year old colony of mine. It will kill if it wants to

Just looked in the tank with a flashlight (at night is when the sweepers really come out with LPS). It’s throwing sweepers that are about an inch long but none of them are reaching any corals yet. As much as I hate to, I may just wipe this colony out to prevent it from eventually taking over the base rock. I’ll try to save what I can as I chisel it off and pass the frags on to other local reefers.

Chisel off the rock Chunk the colony is on and just put in sandbed to isolate it.
I’m pretty much out of room in the sandbed, unfortunately. I have a couple open spots that I’ve reserved for Scolys but that’s about it.
Not overly worried about it as this tank is mainly SPS dominant with LPS and some zoas filling in the lower niche’s. I can live without the war favia.

yep, they don’t play around!
Here’s a full tank shot…sandbed is pretty stuffed if I’m thinking long term with the LPS down there.

Very nice tank, thanks for sharing!

I’d get a strong magnet shelf that looks like rock and put it on the left or right glass pane about 50-60% up
