For the cost, I feel it should be scraping my glass daily :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Excited to test this one but on price alone it will be tough to ever recommend. This goes for TM, HW, and ESV as well. I love all three of those salts but they need to get their prices under control. Ocean shipping is dirt cheap these days so they can’t use that excuse any longer
For the total money put into my system, spending some additional money on salt is pretty minor.

Tank
Lighting
Stand
Skimmer
Heater
Return Pump
Power Heads
Doser
2 Part Additives
Controls/Monitors
Testing kits/devices
Supplements
ATO devices/reservoirs
Maintenance Supplies

So salt cost (which the actual inhabitants swim, breath and thrive in) is not on my list of items to skimp on in the big grand scheme of things.

Anyone try this salt out yet? Just got a batch and will be trying it out on water changes soon. It has the mixed parameter levels I typically run in my tank.

Never heard of it before. Interesting. I wonder it will mix to the numbers on the bucket.

Triton tested it so why shouldn’t it?

Because bad batches of salt happen and it makes sense to test what you put in your tank.

I'm sure the batches sent to Triton for testing were on the mark. But batches mixed in mass production will vary.

BRS recently replaced a 200 gallon box of salt mix of Instant Ocean Reef Crystals for me because it wasn't mixing to the levels declared by IO.

Because plenty of other ICP tested salts don’t match and ICP testing itself is very hit and miss at times.

I will be putting this salt to test soon. Home kits and ICP as well

I agree I’ve seen some funky values coming from ICP labs over the years.

I use ESV, TM, and HW salt. I’m far from a penny pincher when it comes to salt.

However, this salt is expensive for what it is IMO. 135g out of one bucket/box is crazy to me. And that’s at 34ppt. Make it 35ppt and it makes even less.

I hope it works well for people and the numbers line up. I’ll be testing a bucket to see how their numbers line up.

The Fauna Marin I mentioned is pretty close to that, I wanna say the math for 35ppt was 128g for a $86 20kg box.

It seems all the imported salts are getting around the same price these days. I wouldn't be shocked to see they are all using the same raw materials and likely being mixed in the same plants

First impressions, this salt mixes super fast and super clean and spot on. I added 148grams per gallon of water and it landed dead on 34ppt like they claim. Quick Hanna test showed 8.7dkh. Sticker on bucket says 8.3dkh. That is well within range and good enough for our use.

How many gallons per bucket do you think?

Hi! Any update on how using the Nyos salt is going for you?
Sorry, I have to fess up here. I have tried to use my previous salt first (AF Reef). I plan on mixing my first NYOS bucket tonight. Sorry for my delay.

Hi y’all! I’m mixing my first salt in my first tank, and I selected this salt.
Would anybody please explain why this is measured at 34ppt? And not 35? Should I be going for 34 or 35? Does it matter that small difference? I have a Hanna salinity checker to test results after mix. Just confused at the difference this salt is calling for. I hope my question makes some sense…
Any help for the FNG is greatly appreciated.

Most companies are displaying 34ppt on their packaging now. It gives them a middle ground and also correlates to 8.* dkh with their ingredients which covers a large audience.

Red Sea lists parameters for 33, 34,and 35 PPT. Just depends on what level you run your system at.
