I called NY aquatics twice regarding a dussomieri tang they had. Upon a lengthy conversation with Mike from NT aquatics,,,,,, we spoke about industry, practices and then his livestock. I proceeded to order the fish for next day arrival and stayed on the phone with me until order was confirmed, assured me how it will be packed, etc and provided great communication.
The fish arrived next morning at 9:20am.
The fish was Packed extremely well and heat packs were hot, In fact having a sore back from so much recent shoveling, I wore the heat pack which is just beginning to lose its heat delivery.
The fish was in perfect shape, eats like a pig and even ate in bucket during acclimation and did well for several hours in bucket until I shut lights off in the evening.
He WILL see me again. Here is fish below. Thanks again @NYAquatic

Doesn’t look like a dussomieri. I raised one from 5” to his current 20+”. The tail coloration is not like this.

The whites in your first two pictures suggest it’s not.

In looking up south african version, These pics come up which are very close (see bottom)

Its missing the typical markings of a Bariene and Fowleri but looking much closer is now questionable and as fast as they grow, will see how it develops.

Unless there is optical illusion, the fish before shipping and after are different fish. You may want to check with Michael to see if they grab the wrong one by mistake.

Was this fish quarantined at NY as it looks like it’s in your DT. Or are those internet examples? I have seen posts by this vendor but was always curious how they shipped and how their fish did in customers tanks.

I left him a voice message and am trying to confirm that also as I know several vendors use file pics.

I’ve seen him using those yellow sticks in his tanks during his livestream

Whatever it is it's a beautiful fish, and no doubt a great addition to that awesome tank of yours, if you get a chance to get a fts and show off all those beautiful fish that would really put things into perspective for what an amazing tank full of tangs and happy fish looks like!

Great find!

Well, depends on what he paid versus what he actually got. The appreciation to the actual beauty may vary. I just hope that this isn’t a yellowfin tang which looks close to any of three (duss, barine, fowleri) but at a much lower price point.

Update- I just heard back and he asked about lighting I took pics under. I only run Orpheks and they were on lowest setting. Now that lights are on- Dussomieri markings are distinct and that pic on his site was a file pic and he does not have yellow sticks in his tanks as mentioned and looking at pic, that is a ph or salinity probe.

Here are a few updated pics:
