The Noopsyche K7 V3 Setup & Review:
Initial impressions:
The packaging while plain is sufficient, the light is well packed including all accessories.
The power supply is solid! Larger than most, but appears to be well built.
The light also seems to be well built with quality materials. It's got a nice feel to it, doesn't feel cheap or flimsy at all. The fully enclosed housing is nice and the visible aluminum heat sinks on the side add a certain sleek appeal to the lights. The fan is visible on top, but is covered once the mount is installed.
The mounting bracket is nicely designed and sleek. I really like how the bracket can swivel so that the light can be mounted lengthwise across the tank from side to side (left to right), or front to back.
The setup for the K7 V3 is fairly straightforward for anyone whose previously put together an arm mounted light before. It has some quirks which I'll touch on below. Overall though the setup isn't great, but it's not the worst.
Better installation and instructions, with some photos would be ideal, especially for newer users who may have never put together a light mount before.
Turning on using the provided instructions is somewhat clunky. The user directions could certainly be improved, but they aren't the worse I've ever seen.
Syncing the controller (if purchased) is straightforward once you know the button combo. Setting up the lighting and schedule with the controller is easy, but the controller itself could certainly be improved for ease of use. Also the constant plugged in state of the controller is certainly clumsy. I assume the future direction is 'app control' since the new nano light is going that direction, so the controller portion may be a mute point on a future version.
Using just the light to setup lighting is definitely a pain, and I'd certainly suggest anyone buying of these to get the controller. I only minimally played around with this as I have the controller, and the minimal I've messed with it, doesn't leave me wanting to mess with it in the future.
I've only had a few hours using and tweaking the light itself, so I will expand on this review as I get more time with the light.
Bottom line:
Initial impressions with the light I would say the Noopsyche K7 V3 is worth the price! It's a well built light, and from what I've read it certainly grows corals! There are some quirks to it, which hopefully get worked out in future versions! It is certainly a more premium feel to it over other 'budget' lights.
In the future I'd like the next version to provide better setup/instructions along with either refining the current controller or swapping over to 'App Control', another improvement could be adding a small screen to go with the buttons on the light itself for easier setup/use.
