I recently took my neglected Reefer 750XXL from a neglected fish tank back to a reef tank about 3 months ago. I added some 10 small sps frags that are doin "OK" and about 20 zoas, also not looking like I would prefer.

I prefer aquaforest products. I am running component 123.

The problem I am having is I am consuming about 35 ML alk daily. I set my doser to dose 5ML cal and 5ML mag waiting for the levels to drop. Both are still higher than I prefer. Mag is over 1500 and Calcium is about 480. I would prefer 1350 and 440 or so. I want to dose in linear proportions in order to benefit from trace elements, mineral salts etc but feel I have to get cal and mag to what i consider proper levels before i can dose in a linear fashion.

I suspect once I get some decent sps growth I will have proper consumption but my tank is telling me it's not ready for high end sps, and I am selective on what I put in my tank so I am currently in a holding pattern, waiting for my system health to develop.

Also note worthy is 3 months ago when I decided to go full on reef mode, I added 3 XR30 gen 6, reefmat, and most importantly, I removed some of my established rock and replaced it with dry rock with the goal of drastically changing the rock scape. In doing that, I set myself back YEARS. My tank is not they very mature stable tank that it was in the not so distant past. I could have done this with less impact in hind sight. My 10 year old system is in the process of maturing once again.

Sorry so wordy. Basically wondering if anyone with AF Component 123 experience can help me get to linear dosing and proper magnesium and calcium levels.

Only god can add elements to a system and get lower number values afterwards.

I think you have identified the system and the situation very clearly and now you are in a waiting period until the new rock and coral are working well together.

Praying for a short wait time.
