Hi everyone, after just a few months in this wonderful hobby, the right opportunity came along to upgrade from my 93 gallon cube to a 220 gallon! For years really, even when I was just doing freshwater, I’ve always wanted a 6 foot tank and it is my first one; it really is a dream come true!

Here is what I’ve purchased and put together so far, some parts are on their way to me so no pictures right now; it’s just a bare tank on a stand with a light, nothing too exciting

220 gallon Marineland aquarium (72Lx24Wx30H)
Marineland Monterey Stand black
Marineland Monterey Canopy black
Overflow kit 3000 complete with 2 returns
65 gallon sump (36Lx18Wx24H)
Danner 18 MAG-DRIVE PUMP 1800GPH
CSC-450 Cone Skimmer w/ 2 X SICCE PSK1200 Pumps
72″ SunBrite LED F-Series V2 w/ optics
200 lbs sand
170 lbs Tukani live rock
Tunze 6105 power heads x3

My cube is still up and running and I plan on moving my current inhabitants once my new setup is up and running and fully cycled:

Coral list:
Red monti cap, zoanthids, Kenya trees, acropora, hairy mushroom, cabbage leather, candy cane, ricordea mushrooms, aussie duncan, fire cracker dendro, bubble, purple tip hammer, ultra rainbow aussie brain, open brain, labyrinth aussie brain, lobo brain, acan, favia, aussie blue tip elegance, green tip torch, green tip frogspawn, octopus frogspawn

Fish list:
Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens) x1
Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica) x1
Lubbock’s Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus lubbocki) x1
Cleaner wrasse x1
Ocellaris clownfish x2
Sailfin/Algae Blenny Red Fin (Salarias fasciatus) x1
Yellow Prawn Watchman Goby (Cryptocentrus cinctus) x1 (probably missing)

Inverts:
Tiger Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus bellulus) x1
Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni) x5
Blood Red Fire Shrimp (Lysmata debelius) x2

Clean up Crew:
Astraea Turbo Snails x4
Zebra Stripe Turbo Snails x3
Red Stripe Snails x3
Cerith Snails x3
Nerite Snails x3
Nassarius Snails x7
West Indy Snails x3
Hermit Crabs x7 (2 blue, 2 red, 2 orange, 2 elegans, 1 halloween)
Emerald Crab x1

The goal here will be to be able to add other tangs such as purple, naso and possibly blue hippo

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly welcomed. I will look at adding a controller soon enough but for now I have Finnex max-300 for my heaters and I do have an auto top off that I’ll move over…

Thanks

Thanks, one "small" change to this, I've opted to buy a friend's Vertex Alpha Cone 250 Skimmer instead of the CSC. I also had another friend pop up and offer me a Tunze 7096 controller to help me program my 3 new power heads so I'm pretty happy about that!

My order from glass-holes.com should be in today so I'll have some pics of my progress soon :)

Here's a quick FTS, tank has been up and running since Sunday with live rock, cycle is also completed already. My sump is not in yet so I cropped off the top of the tank with no water so this looks like a 180 I guess. The heaters in the tank don't look too good either but they'll go in the sump once I have it up and running

Welcome to the big tank club. My tank is the same size. When I brought mine home I laid down inside it. lol ya that was cool.

Wish you great luck with your new tank. Hope you got long arms as 30'' deep is not that easy to reach the bottom without your arm pit in the tank haha.
