My tank is 20 gallons; excuse the remaining dirtiness of the tank and the table it's on, currently just keeping the tank on a table while I finish cleaning it it up, and I put the rocks in the tank temporarily to gauge how well they fit. The final tank will have a substrate of 1mm aragonite; is this too little rock, or should it be okay, and does the scape itself look effective? I plan on very modestly stocking the tank; just a fire goby, some hardy corals like GSP, and possibly a cleaner shrimp. Any advice would be appreciated :)

You're gonna be good with about 0.75 to 1lb per gallon. It USED to be 2lbs per gallon, but that is old news. I've heard of even less being used. It'll depend on what the bio-load will be in the tank. What are your plans with fish population?

Also, take a look at James Findley and The Green Machine. He's an artist that has done some pretty amazing aquascapes. You can get some ideas from him.

I'm not 100% sure on my math - I usually use litres and kgs - but I have 5 kgs of rock to approx. 75 litres of water, so about 11 lb to approx. 20 gallons? So I should probably shore it up with another small island of rock somewhere to the side.

As for fish population, I'm just going to have a fire goby, and also possibly a cleaner shrimp. My longterm plan is to upgrade to a larger tank and turn this one into a quarantine tank, but for now, the only for sure want is a fire goby

I'd move that rock no the right, think about how easy it will be to reach and clean the glass etc.

You're right, I did leave enough room for water flow + my magnetic glass cleaner to get around it easily, but getting my hand around it was a lot fiddlier. Bumped it forward and to the side a bit so there's plenty of room. Thanks for the advice :)
