Hello everyone!
My name is Jay, and I am new to reefing, started in October with a Red Sea Nano Max and now just upgraded this past weekend to the XL425. Been planning to since January and finally did last week. Took 2.5 solid days with my Bro in law who’s been a Reefer for years, he has me hooked. Attached are a couple pics from when we started on Thursday, been up and running for a few days. Didn’t realize how involved, complicated and costly this hobby is but I’m loving it! So far the number one thing I’ve learned so far is you must have patience which I have none haha but good things come to those who wait. Happy to be on the forum and looking forward to seeing everyone’s tanks as well as my own grow. Cheers!

He did set you up in the right direction. Nice system going there. Cannot wait to see some livestock... but be patient before trying to rush them.

Welcome! What’s the measurement for the controller board? Where did you get the orange cover?
Hey bud thanks! The board is a standard 16”x48” white laminate pressboard from home depot. The actual width is 15.75” which was great cuz it fit perfectly in that right side compartment. I cut it down to 27” high to leave about 3” from the top of the board the the ceiling of the compartment to leave room for wires into the plugs if the EB832. As far as color, do you mean the lights or the orange grommets? The lights were from Target that have a remote and change to a few colors for show and the orange grommets I got from BRS 1.25”.

Welcome .. you are about to open your reefing world with tons of knowledge.. Enjoy the ride!
Thanks! I know I’ve been doing nothing but researching everything and since I had a taste with the Nano, I knew what I was looking to get, took a while to get everything but it was worth itThere’s so much to learn, so many opinions, I have a great brother in law as a reef encyclopedia so he helps me out all the time with my basic questions

Thanks! Yea he is a huge help and I owe everything I learned so far from him. I threw in the clown and wrasse I had in the nano right away. Put in the few small frags I had too. Used live sand and the LFS filled it with seasoned water, I’m still dosing the seed and Alpha though for 7 days. Everything’s looking good so far. Happy to be I. Here, I’m sure I’ll need a lot of advice as it grows
