Hey everyone, it’s been a long 3 month process, but im finally all cycled and gear all set up, and ready to get lights on and livestock added to my new tank. It’s a 150 gal peninsula. I’m pretty happy with how the aquascape turned out and how all my gear is functioning so far. I opted for three 57” ai blades. At 1st i was a little hesitant to only be using blades, but after doing my par testing I’ve found my readings are more than powerful enough for the mixed reef I’m planning. Totally thrilled with their form factor and the power they’re putting out. Anyone who’s interested in following along, I’ll post periodic updates on how things are going. For now I just wanted to see if anyone has a good template for a light schedule for the blades. I’ve got two grows and 1 glow. I suppose I could use the boiler plate template they give you on the app, but if anyone has a similar set up and wants to share their settings that would be a great help. Attached are some videos of my set up

Nice rockscape! I'm planning on upgrading from a 200xl to a 500 Peninsula. Can't quite fit the 700.

I currently have a XR15 G6 Pro. For the 500, I may add 2 more XR15s or just do 2 XR30s. However, I do like the shimmer look of the 500 in the "Flowy Stonies" BRSTv 52 week series. Your scape somewhat reminds me of that.

Very cool and thanks for sharing.

Thanks yea I was trying my best to give everyone a good habitat, while still making something that I liked too. I was originally going to go with some xr15, but in the end I’m happy I went with the three blades. They are super low profile and clean looking, and I’m getting plenty of power from them. Top parts of the rocks are 200+ par, and lowest areas are around 100 par. Softies and lps at the bottom, and my monti’s and acro’s will do fine at the tops. My 1st round of livestock passed quarantine and they actually just got put in the display tank

Following along, i've got the same tank and went with 4 XR15 and had in mind to maybe add AI blade to cover shadows in the future. The par measurement is with the blade at a 100% ?

Nope. I’ve got the whites at 95%, and everything else runs at 43%

hmm, now you have me thinking of going with just AI Blades. If so, that would be 2 Grow and 1 Glow. That or 2 or 3 XR15 Pro with 2 AI Blades Grow/Glow (or just Glows).

go for it! I’ve got 2 grows and 1 glow and I’m very happy I didn’t go with the xr15s. Would have been overkill and totally redundant. I’ve got plenty of power and there is no reason to spend all that extra money imo

Question, what mounting method did you use for the Blades?
I actually ended up piecing together the hms rail mount and a blade ceiling hanging kit. Kind of a Frankensteins monster, but I think it came out looking pretty slick. Here are a few pics of the light mounts and the livestock so far. 1st set of corals finish quarantine and will go into the tank next week too

I'm looking to setup a floating mount kinda like the one from ReefDudes. Another member here is helping me with the design. It will be height adjustable, which should be cool. I wonder if your top piece would mount to the 80/20 rail....

Have to say, I'm going steel your scape! ;-). It's close to what I want....I may go a little higher, at least for one side. If I had the space, and could convince my wife, 700 would be for me also.

Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Sounds like your setup will be nice. Mine def would be able to mount to a 80/20. I already had the hms rail so i just used that. But you could certainly mount to alot of different options. And feel free to steal it! Haha im just happy other people than me like it. It took a lot of planning and effort to get it just right, so it certainly feels good to get the positive feedback. I’ve gotten some nice remarks back from the wife and friends, but knowing people in the reefing community like it too is pretty cool.

definitely go for the blades! Still loving them a ton! They are slim and sleek, and are putting out plenty of power. It's nice not having those huge bricks above the tank, blinding me and sounding like a leaf blower. The blades are silent, which is a huge plus
