New kid - what’s this edition

This is currently what my tank looks like

Question 1) the brown algae -read a lot about it being good, but how much is to much? I also have green algae on my glass.

Question 2) close up of rocks with micro bubbles - is this okay?

Question 3) should I be running lights on a normal day/night cycle even though I don’t have coral?

question 4) what is this on my sail?

Last question) is this the best place to ask these questions in a new thread?

1. Diatoms, yes. Normal.
2. Definitely bubble algae, and could also be dinos (not 100%, but you don't want those).
3. Not necessarily - but it can accelerate coralline algae growth (the purple stuff you want).
4. Looks like bubble algae again.

I have a string like thing that has brown bubbles on it but it’s only in one place. Think it might be Dino’s but not sure and it’s super hard to get a photo of we’ll.
For the snail photo the thing that is coming out of its shell that looks like a flower. There’s two of them now and were only one when I got the snails.

Sometimes the bubbles can be a sign of a new system along with too much air entering the water column ( micro bubbles from a skimmer used to be very common .
Cyanobacteria and even Dino can come with small bubbles on the rocks

do the bubbles look clear and only bubbles or are they green or red bubbles ?

Could be a small zoanthid.

I highly doubt it’s Dino in a very young tank . But it’s not impossible

Okay yeah, so definitely tank uglies then. Keep up on good husbandry, go nice and slow, and it will resolve itself with time. Definitely not anything to panic over.

Testing again right now but yesterdays numbers were Nitrate 12.1 Phosphate .09 Aklanity 7.9 Salinity 35

Okay cool. Yeah my phosphate today is .04 and nitrate is 11.2

This is normal for a new tank started with dry rock. Be patient (difficult, I know) and as others have said, things will turn around on their own. "The uglies" are the second cycle your tank goes through. As it matures, it will get better.

That kind of variation is well within test kit margins of error. You're doing just fine.
