have a fairly new Nem that seemed happy for about a week and has now decided to take a walk. Any advice on getting it placed in an "ideal" location?

It will have to decide on the ideal location. If it settles somewhere you don't like, try aiming a powerhead at it to get it to move. In the end though, it will settle where it wants. My two nems move around on one rock. It's like they swap positions every couple days.

It is a condylactis. White with purple tips. From what I've heard, rock men's are fairly immobile.

Yeah homie.....you are SOL. It's gonna be where it's gonna be.

Once, a long time ago, a certain member of ETRC (I won't mention names @Rob.D) gave me some great advice on how to get a nem to move. It moved alright........moved right into the afterlife.

Wasn't my fault, your technique was all off......:p

With my tank setup it was critical that my nems picked the rock I wanted them on since the other rocks has sticks on them that I didn't want damaged. So here's what I did - took the rock that I wanted out and put it in a bucket of tank water with a heater. Plopped the nems in the bucket with the rock and waited for them to pick a spot, which they did. Then I put the rock back in the tank. So far they haven't moved one bit. Now this might just be blind luck in my case but I'll take it [emoji4]

I just have bubble tips... They roamed around when I first put them in my Biocube then settled down and never moved again. When I moved to the 45 gallon cube they moved around a bit then settled and stay pretty much in the same spot. Oh and my tomato clownfish have loved the bubbles out of them. I moved the rock they were on into the cube and then about a week later moved the fish and their bubbles had started coming back...

I have the same nem as you I took a 1in drill bit to a rock that I wanted him in and it stayed put last to months as long as it can duck in while digesting they love it. Mine turned light green with light blue tips
