So so close to having it up and running. It’s taken most of the last year to get to this point. We moved at the end of 2021, and were just in a temporary townhouse while we looked for a home to buy. Ended up building, which is the perfect time to get a ginormous tank. We had a freshwater tank when our kids were young, but never saltwater. Then we started scuba diving, and learned about reef keeping. I’m hooked.

I bought a lot of equipment over the last year while waiting for the house to be finished. Two Sicce pumps, three Radion XR30 blue lights, two MP40’s, and a bunch of other odds and ends. Also equipment for a saltwater mixing station. We moved into our home the day before hurricane Ian hit, so no time to unpack or get settled. Once we had furniture in place and mostly unpacked, I went to the LFS to order the tank, the WaterBox DX220.6. Of course it was sold out due to their Blue Friday sale.

While we waited we built the saltwater mixing station, bought some rock to play with, and had sand and salt delivered. All I needed was the tank! It finally arrived last week. The cabinet is set up and I have people coming to move the tank onto the stand tomorrow morning. While the WB DX comes with everything needed for the sump, I have to admit to being a bit stumped at putting it together. Could be a while before I have more pictures to post We’re going on vacation mid-February and I’d like to have it cycling soon so I can let it go until we get back. No sense in putting anything alive in it and going away for ten days.

Any advice and/or direction is appreciated.

up and cycling now. Hard to see all the swim throughs in the rock structure, but they’re there. Used about 180 gal in the 220 with 140lb special grade sand. Three radion XR30 G5s, two Ecotech MP40s (for now), Sicce Synchra SDC 9.0 return pump (which might be a little overkill?), Reef Octopus Regal 250INT protein skimmer, and XPAqua Ultimate ATO.

Pretty happy with how it’s coming together. Now day 4 of cycling and time to test water parameters.
