I upgraded to a bigger tank and I'm wondering if my LFS gave me some bad direction or advice. Everything has been up and running for the past 2 weeks without any issues, from what i can see visually. Last night i went to bed around midnight and didn't notice anything. I woke up at 6 am today and the tank was very cloudy and the fish were dead. I have had this system up and running for the past 2 weeks. Is it possible that a bacteria bloom happened or electricity in the water. I did add an ecotech MP10 to the system last night before all this happened but i had it running at 20 percent power. I have been thinking about getting out of saltwater for a little while now and this doesnt help. I didnt take any pictures because i had to get to work

When i switched over to this new setup, here's what i did

1. Washed/Rinsed the sand
2. Used water from previous tank along with Rock
3. Added Fish
4. Added Dr Tim's bacteria

Any insight or help is greatly appreciated.

Based on just the information provided so far, it initially sounds like an ammonia spike to me.

1. How much rock, and was it live rock that had been established a while before you put in the tank and was kept 'live' during transition?
2. What size is new tank?
3. What was the livestock in tank?
4. What are your parameters for Salinity, Temp, Nitrate, and Ammonia?
