I am looking for some experienced reefers advice. If your a stick head take a look at this post and let me know what you think:

I have a mixed reef and currently I have a green slimer and forest fire digitata that aren't looking so hot.
I hoping that someone can't help explain why.

I dose All for Reef each morning.

*I know my parameters are Good.
(Just kidding) I hate when I read that line. It's so unhelpful lol.

Actual parameters:
Alk 8.5 might fluctuate by .2 a week or so.
Nitrate 7.2
Phosphate .06
Mag 1370
Calcium I honestly don't check
Salinity 1.026

Please let me know your suggestions.
I'm happy to answer any questions.
Thanks in adavance

Other params seem fine. It’s definitely the biggest question at this point.

How old is the tank? next step for me would be an ICP test.

Other common sps troubleshooting tips:

- how strong is the flow?
- how strong is the lighting?

Great questions.

Tank is 2yrs 7mo old. It is a Marine X 90.3. 60ish gal display with 20is gal sump

Flow is from 2 Nero 5's attached to back glass.

Lighting 2 AI prim 16hds.

Refugium set to a reverse schedule

Maybe I should consider ICP. Perhaps there a ruling heater or something I'm unaware of. Friday is water change day. I'll do a thorough inspection of the sump equipment.

Ok I'll bite.....
whats your calcium level at?
Haha nice. I'll order test kit tomorrow and find out. Stay tuned.
Maybe I'll just insist I'm doing everything right and then wait for someone to tell me what I want to hear and ignore everyone else.
Seems to be a legitimate strategy lol

Bro.....this is a forum full of experts.... ask 3 of them and you will get 4 opinions
Yeah your not kidding...
Pros and cons of the internet I suppose.
Fortunately for me I'm just looking for the easy, correct, and quick fix. So I'll just be aggressive and defensive until I get it!

Check those neros, I've seen people open them up and it's rust everywhere. ICP will be a good sanity check.

Good call. There is an additional in the sump for the refugium. I'll check all 3. As well as the heaters and pumps.
I also obviously need a calcium test kit.

So Wascally, you have it all wrong. The corals in question are a “White Slimer” and a “Forest Ash Digitata”. And there’s definitely nothing wrong with them. :astonished-face: Here’s a riddle, What is invisible and cannot be tested for?

Right, Toxins. From your unquestionably beautiful reef, you’ve got a number of toxin hot spots and concerns. I believe I saw the tentacles of one aptasia. Are there more and are they touching any of those closed zoas? Mushrooms, Duncans, Euphillia and I believe a Green Sinularius are curiously close to each other as well.

2 possible answers here if I could. Do your best to separate all of your corals. And two, Fresh Carbon.
Coral toxins are toxic and irritants to sps growth and health. What say you?

That is a really good point. I haven't considered that at all. What would you suggest? Upping carbon amount and/frequency of replacement?

As for aptasia there are a growing number and two peppermint shrimp are arriving Friday with some CUC reup.

I'll try my best to move them but I'm working with limited space.

Carbon can exhaust itself rather quickly. Something else, one cannot test for. ChemiPure products claim to last for 2 or 3 months. I believe it’s a really high grade carbon. I change mine out every 8 weeks. (ChemiPure Blue). Religiously.
As far as Aptasias, my personal experience with them is total destruction by my Copper banded butterfly fish “Bah”. CBBs once they get a taste for them are great reef fish and will clean out your Aptasias. I believe from what I’ve heard, peppermint shrimp are hit or miss. CBBs are eating 24 hours a day. Seriously! And I totally get you as far as limited space. We all have to manage our real estate to the best of our abilities. My footprint is 72” x 24”. It’s challenging, but worth it. Good luck bud.
