I’m looking for lighting ideas for my 125gal tank 72x18x24. I’ve been out of the hobby for about 7 yrs the old tank had MH/T5 fixture over it and wanna go led. I’m wondering if I could get away with 3 AI primes 16hds for a softy only tank. I was going to go with 3 viparspectra 165w black boxes but if I can get the better build quality out of the AI and the tech that would be a better option. I’m not looking to go cheap I just don’t need tons of par for softies so don’t wanna overbuy lights and scale them way back. Trying to find the sweet spot. So let me know what other options I might want to consider. Thanks all!!!

There's also a giveaway for one going on if you're interested.

I would say no. I had a 4’ long waterbox 65 gallon that came with two. I eventually added a 3rd. Not too long after I upgraded to a reefbreeders photon. Now I was doing a mixed reef but the ai prime fans are noisy when they run and over that size tank, I feel like you would definitely see 3 brighter areas in the tank since all the light comes from one puck. Also the lenses melt even if you do not run them high.

I'm running 2 140s, a 90, and a 75 over my 125. I could probably use 1 or 2 more. @Gtinnel is running 6 but at a lower intensity.

My tank is a mess but they'll grow corals!
