The malachite green / formalin medication is mostly used for freshwater fish. I’ve not had good success using it in marine tanks. The praziquantel med is good against flukes.

The lesion behind the left eye? It could be Lymphocystis, but it isn’t in a typical location. It isn’t ich or brook. Did it show up all at once? If so, could it be an injury?

Thanks for the reply!
I don't think anything was wrong with his/her left eye, he/she was moving it around to see. Just that spot/growth, the clown is in a quarantine tank (so glad i got one a when I got the tank). The spot appeared suddenly but has not fallen off or changed yet, I'll keep a close eye on the clown :|

*edit sorry I didn't make it clear in the first post ( the purple spot (its white/growth under normal white lights)) I think its just where the gills start

Yes- that’s the lesion I meant. I think it’s an injury. Unless it gets larger, I’d just leave it alone.

all that panic for that haha, cheers, at least I have some medications whether they are effective or not. I'll keep the clown in the QT for a day or less though. I think his/her friend misses them , the friend/mate looked heaps devistated when I took the clown out

Keep a close eye on it though! If it is a minor injury or Lymphocystis, you won't need to do anything, but if the spot gets larger, or new ones develop, you'll need to consider your next course of action.

*Update*
Well it seems to be going away, only thing I can think of are bristle worms stinging the clown, since poisons/venom/toxins etc react to fish differently it makes sense (to me) that it was only a small area, I'll remove most and leave a few as they don't really bother me, the population will rebound anyway.
(the worms to hang out near their elegance coral, saw about 2 living basicly underneath the coral when its stretched out and I see the clownfish going underneath the coral a lot)

The white dot were the white stripe only covers half its belly, isn't on the fish!
