I have much the same question.

I'm looking to upgrade and am trying to decide between a Waterbox Marine X 110.4 ($2,200) and an IM Nuvo EXT 100 Complete Reef System ($2,770 on sale). The IM is larger, and it has the "Bean Animal" external overflow plumbing. The Waterbox looks better (pure aesthetics, not talking functionality. This is a matter of taste, obviously), and has an RO reservoir in the sump. The IM doesn't have an RO reservoir, and by the looks of it, there's not even room for one inside the cabinet. I'd have to place it outside.

The bigger question is, which is best for a sump newbie? Which of the sumps is easiest to access, and easiest to dial in for someone who's never had a sump-based tank before?

And, is there a difference in reputation/quality? I've only read good things about both. Is that accurate? I did notice that Waterbox gives you 2 years of warranty included, while IM only gives you 1 year. You can pay to extend it to 3 years, though.

Appreciate any insights, thanks!

I ended up going with the waterbox infinia 155. I had the marine x and loved it the sump was super easy to understand and enough space for everything. The only thing I didn’t like was that there was no refugium. There is a company that sells a magnetic baffle if you decide and that honestly would be the perfect setup for someone new to sumps and someone that might want a refugium later on. The reason I decided the infinia instead of marine x or innovative marine is basically because I wanted a 5 ft tank and something shallow. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I would look at the dimensions and then go from there the nice thing about the marine x is that there is space for a controller board and you don’t need an ato container. The 155 I’m getting doesn’t have space for a controller board so I am having to buy a separate cabinet. The IM doesn’t have space for either lol. The reason I wanted the IM was because the sump is awesome. I have their 40 gallon and the stand is nice I liked the quality of the waterbox more. The IM stand is nice but my personal opinion I liked the WB a little more. Sorry it’s not an exact answer but you will be happy either way. Also the IM stand opens from side also the waterbox does not if that’s something you were looking for.

also, the main reason I went with WB other then dimensions was because they are located in FL hopefully if anything happens I can have them ship things faster to me since I’m located in FL
