Hi,

I have a 20 gallon tank that is 2 feet long. I have the rock, sand and water in place and the tank is currently cycling. I am wondering what you all think are the necessary equipment, supplies, additives/nutrients, etc. for having thriving coral. I am on sort of a tight budget, but not too tight. I want to have all sorts of corals in my tank once its done cycling. I am ordering the aqua illumination prime 16 HD soon as my lighting source. Any ways let me know what you think I need to have healthy great looking corals. Thanks.

I personally would never do anything but feed it heavy and change about 1/3 of the water every 10 days or so, for years.
it would be a very water using method but it would grow the corals exactly like you want. my test kits would be: salt measurement and temp measurement for my change water, not any other test kits.

others would change less, and dose various things that deplete over time. the direct answer of whats required is not anything beyond water changes and nice feeding amounts just before them.

the mechanical and exact testing stuff you read about in reefing is just ways to work with your current water volume with less waste of it. this is a very handy way to see coral reefing.
