Curious if I’m the only one that doesn’t touch what ever is floating in my refugium section of my sump ?
But after closer inspection I noticed huge green bubbles . Could it be because I just scraped the algae from the glass in the dt or is this something I should be concerned with ?

and why does all red slime Grow here ?
Poor lighting from a cheap grow light is my guess but let’s hear what everyone else thinks

Lower flow, concentration of gunk, lighting adequate for basic life forms. Probably the complete opposite conditions of your DT.

Surprisingly enough there is a ton of flow in that section of the sump .

everything including the external skimmer running on a 6000L jeabo pump and the 15000L return pump goes into this section

also surprising the cheap grow light can and does grow coralline algae along with every other type imaginable

Looks like reduced flow on top of the chaeto which is creating an area for the slime to grow.

The top of my chaeto gets the same way, although I have less flow in my fuge area and a bunch of detritus collecting rock.

I was always to the impression we wanted lower flow but with this particular setup restricting the flow in that section isnt an option .

the future comes in to that section of the sump from the bottom , and the skimmer return is piped to below the surface pointing straight at the bottom .
Makes sense why everything rises to the surface but not sure if it’s worth worrying about to change it .

As long as it stays in it's own yard and not migrate.

I used to get red cyano growing on top of a nice little calerpa sandbed sump I built....as long as the DT was doing well it didn't bother me.

Have ever seen the sumps with spinning balls of chaeto? I had a little tumble to mine, then the clump grew too big.

This clump grows large and keeps growing. .
I’m ripping handfuls out weekly and trashing it .
Can’t give it away fast enough

After digging around in the sump to remove more cheato .
I managed to find a large clump of gha . As well as a colony of bubble algae .

curious to see who would eat gha I added it to the veggie clip .
