Hey everybody!
I have a 13 gallon nano tank, and am interested in grabbing 2 Scoly corals (Bleeding Apple + Ultra War Paint from my LFS for 210$ Total only a quarter size big .5” or grabbing both from people on Facebook for 360$ and they are both very large scolys around 3”. Let me know which you guys would think would be better for my tank or which is a better deal. I have pictures of all of them if you guys want me to post them as well. I also want your guys opinion on the placement should I just go for the sand bed in the middle front of the tank? Or should I try to place them on the side of the bottom of my live rock? The livestock in my tank currently are only 2 Black Snowflake clownfish. The only corals I have so far are:
1 Toxic Torch coral
2 Frogspawn
1 Hammer
2 different zoa mini colonies
1 Acid washed bubble tip anemone
1 GSP
1 Candycane
1 Ricordea
I’ve seen some beautiful nano tanks that were “scoly dominated” or some thay just have plenty towards the bottom. I want to start making my tank more based off of the scolys and acan Australian reef tank look, and would even consider getting rid of some of my coral frags to make it look so. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I know they are expensive but the issue to me really is more keeping them alive and thriving. Can I achieve this? Anyone with scolys have any experience they want to share? I know they like low light and low flow so they should be at least started off towards the sand bed bottom. Any advice is appreciated!
