Can you have a look over this and see if there’s something wrong?


I am not aware of any problem there, but I also don’t have much confidence in the ranges shown or how they got set. Its not a test that I think is very useful for husbandry purposes.

Here is a survey from posts of NDOC results on R2R. I didn’t bother collecting the inorganic carbon results (TIC) because that is set by the aquarists. Your TOC and TN look like everyone else’s. TN includes nitrate. If you multiply the TN by 62/14 and it is close to your nitrate measurement, your water has little organic nitrogen.

I am not aware of any correlation between what is happening in the aquarium and TOC and TN. No one collects enough NDOC measurements to even come up with a crack pot theory. Where the Triton ranges come from and what value they hold for us is a total mystery.

Also keep in mind that these measurements have the same problem as ICP measurements: unknown accuracy.
