My tank was doing great and then my corals started to look tucked away and my hammer was completely shrunken and eventually died. Then I noticed my snails started to not move and fall of the glass. Next up was the hair algae started blowing up and now my tank is murky as hell. I tried taking out all the die off and did a 25% water change. All my Perams are decent and are as follows.
Ph 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
Calcium 420
Kh 10
Phosphate 0.05
Mag 1400

Get a “green killing machine” from petco. The uv will clear your water up.
1000000 thumbs up. Every time my tank has ever done this a UV has cleared it up within 24 hours. I run a GKM petco UV full time on my setup now. CRYSTAL clear water

I’ve also noticed in my particular reef that when the bacterial blooms presented themselves it was ALWAYS accompanied by a very strange chemically/citrus/Saccharin sweet smell. I’ve never smelled anything like it besides that. Very hard to even describe. But the three times I’ve caused them to happen the smell started first and then the cloudiness.

I’ve narrowed it down to LPS food by Fauna Marin. I’m sure it’s awesome stuff and people have great results with it. But my system can’t handle it. I can’t recreate a bacterial bloom on command with that stuff.

I have not. Should I invest is that and dose my tank?
Not necessarily; when used it depletes oxygen unless you also run a skimmer at the same time to offset it (just wanted to rule it out as a contributing factor). As suggested above, a UV will seriously cut down on your algae and improve overall water clarity.
