I like to ask my questions at the fish/coral stores and get the solution right then and there if I have any issues, but many stores aren't helpful cause they expect you to know everything. I don't know what I don't know lol but I want to learn!

Shout out to ♡ ～('▽^人) aquariumfishdepot.com for helping me along the way. I did not give up cause they never gave up on me. Asked me all the right questions to figure out what is the issue. They test all the parameters, got all my fish there. Excellent customer service. At least all the peeps that helped me!

Anyway, after many more research and getting my feet into my first saltwater tank, I found this forum and decided to make a thread!

I am just an anxious person. I wanna test constantly lol but i don't want to visit the fish store constantly like a madman. Plus it's 10USD to get tested each time...so
Just sold my kidneys for the reef set hanna checkers. Once that gets here I can start asking questions online! Yay!

Problems I've encountered so far:

Light issues? Maybe. I'm renting a par meter that coming today ✔

My rock flower got suck into my powerhead (I cried) which I changed out to a safer option hopefully ✔

My tank is deeper than it is long so I got a light blade strip to light everything for future



Trusting coral shops!! I would get freshly cut frags and would not know and it dies instantly. How I know this? I put the frag in my tank and the whole skin layer would fly off!

I should've stop getting it from them.. THEN..

I brought 7 candy canes of different heads and colors. I should have like 3 different colors. I have 2 colors.(╯•ᗣ•╰) I brought it individually too. I didn't get to pick because I brought on the website and pick up in store.

-Adding more small rocks till my fish throws it back
-Dealing with some algae atm so the testing will help with it
-After testing, see what I can do lol I don't get it till next week.
-Save up and buy from a good shop.
-Relax and watch the tank! I sprain my back doing these water changes lol!

Update:

Parameters?? Perfect! Cause I keep doing water changes before testing like an insane person٩꒰ʘʚʘ๑꒱۶

So what went wrong? My lights! I was reading around 80 PAR on avg. so I added AI Blade lights and up my current ones.

My Nitrates were there so I went and added a refugium with pods and the whole package.. Am I crazy? whaha loving my fishos is an understatement （・⊝・∞）


The pods/Chaeto is coming in a couple days! Excited!

So what's next?? A water change! After I sprain my back, I didn't get to it for almost 2 weeks. Today is the day! After this post.

After I do a deep clean, I will update with photos! I added some rocks, coral frag grow out rack?

Parameters:
Calcium: I been maintaining 500s cause of my sand. I don't dose
Mag: 1400
Alk: 10
ph: 8.2
Nitrate: 10 ppm
Phos: .8

Hoping the water change will help lower numbers and the chaeto will help maintaining it lower. I have some green hair algae, not a lot, but don't like the look of it. Now that my back is better, I can go back to maintaining the tank!

Bristleworms! The thin, grey half an inch worms.. I saw my watchmen goby ate one. Looking into a pink streak wrasse but none of my local fish stores have them. Will a coral banded shrimp kill my yellow clown goby? He grows max 2 inches.. Or my pistol shrimp. I just don't want the worms to grow massive..
