I lost my yasha goby last night. :'C..
I use a lid. I only take it off to do water changes or clean a rock. I have lost about 5 fish ever and 2 of them have jumped during my water changes. It is the only way I lose them that is distinguishably my fault. I have nano fish so I can't see them on the floor or hear them. The only fish in this tank was a yasha goby and neon goby. I never see them jumping into the lid or even near the surface. I feel like the lid does nothing because they still make it out somehow..

I guess I am going to start checking the floor whenever the lid is off and counting the seconds it is off...

Anyone have other advice to prevent this?

make sure your lid has a fine enough mesh to stop fish from getting past it too

fish are wise and while we see entrapment, they see an opening in the form of light and head for that light which is an opening.
Other times, they get into overflows
