So I broke down one of my fresh water planted tanks to do a rescape, and after looking at it empty and sanitized for a few weeks I got the crazy idea to make it into my first saltwater tank. I can say I’ve never spent as much time on any site as I have here researching. So I’m excited to keep a thread of the progress of this tank.

thanks to advice from y’all, my second attempt at a scape…

we have water, oolite sand (verdict is still out on if that was a mistake or not), and some Mp10’s added. Will post more pics when I can figure out how to take a picture without all the glare. Any suggestions warmly welcomed!

At least some live rock 100% recommended
I think at the very least I will definitely get some love and add it to the back of the AIO area. Everyone swears by the beneficial bacteria in live rock. Thank you for the tip!

It is the JBJ 20! Good eye!! It was a great budget buy. I didn’t even think to try the camera settings themselves. I have an iPhone pro, I should learn how to use the dang thing lol.
Yea it certainly was a good budget buy. It's my first venture into Reef tanks and didn't want to spend a ton of money on something if I didn't like it. Red Sea Max Nano Peninsula 25 will be my next. I just want a lil more depth and width. Check out my build, I'm a novice but you may get some ideas off it.

Yes I wish I would have known about those tanks before I bought this one…..but I bought this one as a fresh water. I never really knew I would actually get into salt lol. I’m excited to see yours! Going over now!!

So are those circulators magnetic so that the motor is outside the tank? I don't know why I didn't think of that. lol
Yep they are vortech mp10’s. The motor and cord are on the outside of the tank, which I think looks nicer. There’s a strong magnet that holds them in place. They make bigger ones too, but I used the smallest for this tank.
