After touring Sustainable Aquatics yesterday, I stopped at Coral Reef and picked up this starfish.

It's not really my first, as over a year ago I added a white sand sifting starfish that was about the size of a quarter, watched it for ten mins, and never saw it again!

I know they're short lived, and have wondered if they should even be in the hobby, but....

What's your thoughts?

The first one I had for over two years and that was with several tank moves. It didn't survive the third tank move of the summer last year. I picked up a new one at the coral reef in November this year.

Coral Reef had just received what looked to be ten red linkcia starfish, and two others, the reddish one I bought and one identical but more pink. Still surfing for a type on mine.

Researched this morning. I think it's the Indian Star Fish, a Fromia, but not the Tiled, as those seen to have a much more pronounced central disc.

This one looks pretty much identical to yours, based on your photo anyways, colors may be different in person. They didn't specify if it was a monilis or an indica, just that it's from Bali. I think the variances you get with these starfish boils down to the region, they all seem very similar. Either way, nice score, he's awesome!
