My experience with Amikami Goby

I got an Amikami goby earlier this year, I think it was spring or early summer. After almost selling it to another hobbyist I decided to keep it for myself and just figure out the final stocking for my 9 gallon display when the time comes. It is a beautiful fish . . . that you will basically never see again hahaha. It is very cryptic like my Flaming Prawn goby. I believe in their of care, it is very similar if not the same as taking care of a Flaming Prawn, just have an established pod population for them to browse on their own time. There some differences between the Amikami behavior and Flaming Prawn that I've noticed, the Amikami is more of a noctunal hunter. I will always find it out and about 15 minutes after the lights have been off and it is much more comfortable browsing the open area of the sand bed, whereas my Flaming Prawn is more active during the day and stick closer to the rocks and it's burrow. Unfortunately, with it being nocturnal, I haven't been able to snap a picture of it in the display. As soon as there's a light aimed at its direction it will scoot its way back to its burrow

Neither did I! It just popped up at my lfs and decided to grab it

Mine seems to have a bit of a sunken stomach. I got it after it had been in a breeder box for a week at the LFS and was surely stressed. It seems to have gained a lot of color in my tank, which is a 7 gallon pico with only a clown goby. Worried that the clown goby might eat most of the pods, but do you think it still finds some at night? I havent observed it eat any frozen mysis, but he comes out when I change water and sometimes when I feed coral, making me think he’s getting a bite once in a while. I have access to live brine at my LFS, but otherwise does anyone have any tips on how to make sure he’s eating rather than spending $30 on pods every week? Maybe start dosing phyto to increase pod populations?

Mine passed away earlier this year due to a mishap on my end, but it was nice a fat. If it is just a 7 gallon then I would recommend baby brine shrimps at night. I'm not sure phyto is going to do much in such a small tank. I had mine in a 9 gallon display but it was plumbed into a 30 crystal sump and 10 gal frag tank, so lots of area for pods to hid and populate
