Let me start my telling you what I've got... I have a 29gallon tank with about 30lbs live sand ~2 in sand bed ... and about 20 lbs of live rock, and the tank has been set up for about a total of 5 weeks and cycled for about the last 2.5 weeks.

My tank parameters:
77 temp
0 ammonia and nitrite
about 3ppm nitrate
1.024 salinity

I got my green clown goby just over a week ago and he has been doing great and eating very well so this weekend I added a red spotted scooter blenny. For the first 2 days they were all doing great and no visible signs of anything with both being active and eating well. After my tank cleaning yesterday (wiping down the inside of the glass) my goby has been hiding and today he looks to have small little warts everywhere on his skin ... So what could this be? I thought maybe it could be lympho? but he has multiple warts and not just one or two so I'm not sure. Please help!! thank you

I have tried but can't get a picture of him in the light because he is quite the hider in my lr. But he did come out real quick to grab a bite to eat so I think that is good he is still eating. But I would love any suggestions on what I can do if anything? Thanks

Could the spots/warts be grains of sand? Sometimes my fish get them stuck to them especially if they were stressed/fussing about.

It could be this but I'm not for sure. I cleaned the tank a bit yesterday which stirred up the sand bed some and I think kind of stressed him out so its hard to say. How long does it usually take your fish to get rid of them?

I don't think that it is ich because the spots are more like little lumps and not salty/grainy looking.
I got him from a LFS and no I did not qt either of the fish just acclimated for about 30-45 min for water temp and my tank parameters.

If its ich, (look it up for the details) you are going to have to quarantine and treat (there a few reasonable treatments), all of which will harm your other inhabitants (hence the need to quarantine).

My advice would be to quarantine anyway in a seperate tank even to disqualify ich if you can. But if you quarantine, you can at least start ruling these out. I would als suggest pulling back on the throttle. These saltwater aquariums take time to establish the pieces that make them successful. Adding fish to quick and too close together is a recipe for disaster, especially in small tanks where the biology can change so easy. The one thing that was drilled into my head when getting into this hobby was that "Nothing good happens fast." Good luck and read up as much as you can on the symptoms you continue to see! We will try to help you the best we can too! GL

You can put an HOB filter on it with a sponge in it to help with beneficial bacteria. Maybe put a pouch of chemipure in it to help with parameters. No need for rock or sand. Add a few pieces of PVC in there for the fish to hide in and a heater.

Look into the different treatments. Some people use copper treatments, but you can never house inverts in that tank if you do. There are other reef safe treatments out there, but I'm not sure they work as well. You can use hyposalinity to treat ich as well. Keep us updated and we'll help any way we can.
Also garlic added to the food can help their immune systems. Just don't use the garlic for every feeding. Only a few times a week. There are products out there to make this easier. I can't think of their names right now.

Get one of those little UV sterilizers. It'll help a lot. It will kill the parasites if they're suspended in the water column.

Have you checked for stray voltage?

I just had a similar problem with some clowns and it turned out a heater was the culprit. I removed it and the clowns are doing fine now.

How can I check for that? I do have an older cheaper heater ... So maybe

Well I picked up a voltmeter and it reads absolutely zero voltage in the tank so that's nice to know anyways.

Goby is hanging in there but not looking too hot.

I have to say...very few people would be so worried about such a tiny fish. *I* would because I LOVE tiny fish but I've rarely met anyone else who cares so much about them. I just think that's really nice.

Sorry to hear he's not doing well.

How did you test for voltage? I mean, you can't just stick both probes in the water to check it. You have to put one in the water and one to a grounded source...such as the ground of an electrical outlet. I had problems with this once, and I run a ground probe now. I just made one out of stainless steel wire, bent to hang over the edge of the tank, and I grounded it.

So I got a voltmeter and an extension cord plugged into an outlet and plugged the black ground probe into the cord and out the red probe into the water and it read 0.0. I tested the meter by sticking both probes into the cord and it read about 122
