My 55 Gallon Reef Build!

Finally upgraded from a 30G to a 55G tank recently and got on this forum i have quite a bit of blue reef rock that helps house many lil buddies. The first inhabitants were 2 ocellaris amphiprions. I also have some bumblebee, nerite, and nassarius zombie snails. I have 2 porcelain anenome crabs, a neat lil nudibranch (i think), a lawnmower blenny, and a half dozen lil damselfish of assorted colors. As for coral and other strange beings, i have a very nice pink feather duster, marshall island hammer coral, pineapple tree coral, green star, a lil purple coral idk the name of, a pom pom xenia, a red mangrove and im culturing some red algae. All is doing pretty well as of this threads creation, except 2 of my coral are close and having trouble situating, and my porcelain crabs have lost limbs in some battles but hopefully they recover. Sadly i had a emerald crab, BTA, and duncan coral in my past tank that had passed away before this was setup, but they were still part of the crew

How do the damsel fish go along with the clownfish?

I have two azure damsels with an Ocellaris pair and coral beauty in a 29 gallon. There were 3 damsels, but the clowns killed one in a competition for the Texas holey rock in the center of the tank. The other 2 have claimed territories on either side of the tank with the clowns claiming the center and the coral beauty just goes wherever it wants and minds it’s own business. If that’s a standard 55 gallon (48" long), they should be fine once they find their places.

Nice settup. That’s not a nudibranch, its a slug. I want to say its a lettuce slug (sometimes called a lettuce nudibranch), but they are more frilly. It's not going to do well if there is no algae for it to eat. The BTA should not be in a new tank either, but if you added enough established live rock and can keep the water parameters stable, it should be fine.

I overlooked the fact that your BTA died. Porcelain crabs need a BTA to survive. They can not defend themselves and they feed off the BTA mucus. Also, clownfish and porcelain crabs will fight over a BTA. You will need at least 2 or 3 BTAs to keep those crabs with the clowns.
