Did a full round of testing.
78 degrees
Salinity 1.026
NO3 12
PO4 .12 (I don’t think it’s right , we’ll see next week)
Calcium 410. Rarely measure this. Will bring it up to 450 over the next couple days. May have to start daily dosing.
Magnesium 1500. Never dosed it, only monthly water changes. Coralline everywhere but not depleting so it is what it is.

How fast can I bring up calcium from 410 to 450?

I have to add 511 ml.

I would probably spread that out over 3 or 4 days bumping it 10/15ppm per day. I dont think a larger boost would hurt but as always slower is better.
Agreed. I have done it before in one jump a few times, but it was in my sps tank and I still do not recommend it lol.

So I wanted clean chaeto for my reactor but I keep getting let down by suppliers.

I started in this little project before, but cyano struck. So now I’m going to try it again.

I’m converting my macro algae reactor to an algae scrubber......at least that is the thought!

Check it out.

In theory it should work. Light and nutirents + a place for it to grow. Keep us updated though, as I am curious to see how it works.

I really hope this works. I love this type of idealogy! Nice work and great video mike. I wouldve stumbled at least 12 times in 4 minutes.

Thanks for sharing man!

The system has bombed out in a sense, the Wind field is like.. 300 miles across now. The cone is misleading at this point. Gonna give you some crazy waves and wind for sure.

@Crabby48 has boats. We will crown one and paint it orange. And come save all the reefs on the seaboard.

I’ll tell ya, Ive been thru a bunch in my 57 years. Some on a boat. I highly advise against it!

Granted one of the boats was an aircraft carrier, but the waves were high and strong enough to rock the boat, bend an aircraft elevator, and rip JP5 fuel lines off the side of the boat. That was in the North Atlantic.

The second time I was in the merchant marines. Hurricane Hugo. Our boat was so slow we had to head straight for it and go straight thru it. Otherwise we would have been stuck in it for the duration because we could not out run it. The scariest 4 days of my life. 13 of us volunteered to take her to safety.

Man that’s some big storms to be stuck at sea. I would most likely be very sea sick if I survived the anxiety.

Great pics The goby pictures are pure talent.
I’ll tell ya I probably spent a solid 6 years on the water and never got seasick........until went out on a shrimp boat one day because a friend was short handed.

I puked my guts out! The smell of diesel fumes, shrimp and stuff on deck, and some serious rocking was more than I could take!

So I see a slice right thru the middle of the coral beauty’s tail fin today.

Wonder if it was the trigger or the tomini tang?

The cb’s time in the sump definitely changed the heirarchy!
