I have a waterbox 135.4 and have 2 4 inch filter socks holders. I was thinking about using a large mesh bag 200 micron to initially capture any detritus and particles as a first line of filtering anything it can capture and then use 200 micron felt filter socks for fiber polishing and capturing anything that the mesh could not. Is this a good idea just wanted a way to extend life of the felts.

If anyone has thoughts of good or bad idea please let me know. Thanks

I would think this would cause the amount draining to the sump to be inconsistent?

I think you will just be changing a different sock. Socks need changing is pretty much why I looked for a roller filter as soon as I saw how fast they stop flowing.
I wish I had space. Have a turf scrubber and ultra reef and the other filter rollers won't fit without possibly buying another sump.
