Maxspect Razor X 300w LED at Coral Value. Is this legit? This price is almost too good to be true. Thoughts?

It’s legit and it’s an excellent light

From my understanding there is some behind the scenes situation regarding a change in vendors / suppliers and they are selling off remaining new stock at a huge discount. There’s nothing wrong with the light. It’s a business decision and these are discounted while they make new partnerships.

That's what I've read too, that Coral Value is a legit site/company. I sent them asking if they are including the power supply and the mounting legs with the light, I don't see why not but wanted to double check.
So you like the light @VintageReefer? what does it grow well? I'm going to have a 31" deep 193 gallon, 24X60" so It seems like the 300W would have good coverage for that.

I had this light on my 110g and I absolutely loved it. It grew coral like a champ and the color spectrum was what I wanted. I had mostly LPS -torches, hammers, cynarina - but it grew sps just fine.
They are now discontinued, so any replacement parts are extremely hard to find.
One of the control boards fried and I had to order parts from Denmark. I was not able to get the light to work properly again, even after getting the parts.

Thanks for the intel, yeah there's definitely some good and some bad, sounds like a great light while it operated for you.

I don’t have it but I have seen LFS that run it and was blown away. It was full price at the time and I didn’t buy it. But I told myself….the razor made things look very very good and I would get one someday.

I have a 48” tank I’m about to start and I am considering getting one at this sale price. The only thing stopping me is I have a spare first gen photon 48 in my closet that works fine, and well…free is free

Did this light's fans make very much noise? thanks.

I didn't think it was loud at all. I feel like the AI 64 HDs I have up there now are louder.

what are the reviews
It seems like a nice Lamp, 300 Watts, that's a lot, but I think it is a little old because you need to purchase a Maxspect Connect ICV6 controller to get to work on their App, for all the new Maxspect lamps including the jump series have the control built in so you can connect their App to IOS, this one does not unless again purchase the additional controller, I which it had an 0-10v port so you could connect to Hydros or Apex for full control.

True, but IMO, dont need as the built in controller is quite robust, but with easy pre-sets....

I’ve gotten a skimmer and other odds and ends from CoralVue’s Outlet site.

Their customer service was great too!
The skimmer controller went out and they sent me a new one right away.
I have everything CoralVue, bought last year and pushed them and their customer service on this and other sites heavly,....but now, after a disaster with a IceKap Skimmer and on-going leaking pump saga, now not sure....still not solved after almost a year......

yea but it's best to have it on an app also because you have many more options that you can tweek and control especially all your other devices working all together, and you can do this all on your computer without touching the lamp.

CoralVUE is one of the major brand distributors, Maxspect being one of them, so they're selling the discontinued Maxspect lights.

Here's a fun video. The CoralVUE Headquarters Amazing 1200 Gallon Reef Tank

They are not discontinued by Maxspect, it’s just that Coralvue is no longer the distributor for Maxspect in the US. They are selling off inventory of items they will no longer carry/support. The new distributor is Aperture.
