I have had my pair of Mandarins for a bit over 3 years. My female mandarin is getting rounder and rounder to the point where I am concerned.
I seeded my tank when I first set it up with pods.
I also feed my tank fresh hatched brine, I started doing this when I got my wrasse a few years ago to give it something to hunt rather then pester my mandarins (which it likes to do at first)
Could she simply be over eating? Should I stop putting brine in the tank for a few weeks?
My only concern with reducing feeding is that I also have a baby multibar in there who likes the brine as well….
What has changed:
2 months ago we upgraded from a 46gallon to a 90 gallon display
At the time of upgrade I got rid of my 6 line wrasse
2 new fish added: biota multibar and ora watchman goby

I’ll be adding baby coral beauties next week, if it’s simply over eating will more competition help?

Thank you

Apparently an eating machine but more important is the likely available food source. Cant say fish is egg-bound but a video under white light intensity would be more revealing

Thank you! I guess I won’t put her in a diet then
Never put a mandarin on a diet, overeating is never a problem with them(grin).

This is one of two issues; she is full of eggs or has fluid buildup due to organ failure. The picture isn’t really clear enough, but I suspect these are eggs. In most cases, they will expel the eggs, but in some cases the egg mass hardens and they become egg bound.

I won’t be putting her in a diet, she’s to happy scooting around and eating everything for me to ruin it. I wasn’t able to get a good video of her in white
light, she kept hiding in her caves when I would change the lighting.
I’m linking the 2 better videos I’ve been able to get of her.
This is the full video where you can see her belly
This is a frontal video of her where you can see her kissy eating face, which she pretty much does all the time.

Sorry to link outside to Imgur, I want having much luck attaching videos.
