This came from family after a death. I assume it was from some demo for color TVs or something :thinking-face: Anyway in addition to the cool tape measure the lens is a magnifier. I've used binoculars as budget telephoto lenses so I figure, hmm maybe this will do as a macro lens. I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the results. If I can keep my hands steady I may even be able to improve using manual focus. These were shot with my phone holding the lens thingy in front of the camera lens.

Is it fair to guess that the lens has gungus growing in it? I purchased an old 50mm lens for a film camera once with something very similar obfuscating the lens. If you’re willing to chance it, you might be able to find a way to clean it.

It does need cleaned. It's a solid piece of glass nothing like a camera lens where the fungus is ussualy inside and next to impossible to clean without disassembly. I just found it in a drawer and was playing around with it and was surprised at how well something so simple would work for close up images.
