Hey All!
Purchased this Magnifica Nem about a month ago. Settled in for a bit and then moved and has been moving ever since. Cant really get him to settle in one spot. So, question on flow and PAR. Anyone have any advice on the two subjects? Have two MP40's running about 65% flow from either direction. Two Radion XR30's running 100% Ultra and Blue with 30% whites and 7% red green with 50% intensity. Just bumped up the intensity to 100% to see what would happen and just purchased a PAR meter coming tomorrow. Not sure which of the issue it is flow or light and TBH hard to tell when you make adjustments which the issue is. Feeding is still positive, parameters are all on so no concern there. Any advice would be helpful.

They prefer to perch up high to get as much light and random flow as possible. Their foot prefers a smooth, fairly flat surface to firmly attach to. If you are meeting its lighting and flow requirements, and it appears you are, it might be the rock surfaces are too jagged.
Check its foot for tears. If it has tears in the foot, it will likely not settle down. Tears are not a good thing.
Also, if your water parameters are off, it will not likely not settle down until things are stable and close to NSW levels. In my experience, they can handle moderate levels of nitrates and phosphates, but changes in salinity bug them.

What would you recommend on lighting and flow?

What would you recommend on lighting and flow?
They prefer full spectrum, higher white, intense light 8 hours minimum per day with a ramp up and down. 300 PAR minimum, preferably upwards of 500+ once acclimated.
High random flow that moves the tentacles around vigorously but yet periods of low flow as well, you know, random.

Thank you! Would you mind providing the actual light settings for each of the colors? I'm more visual. They're so difficult to get them comfortable and each setting is key to stability. Change one and understand the change. Not sure on the flow as aggressive as you stated but then again let me get the lighting colors set and intensity and then I can move to flow. Radions are powerful enough to create the needed requirements so I'm not worried from that stance. Anything you can provide would be helpful

Thank you! I posted that so you can get an idea of full spectrum lighting and the type of flow they prefer. My reef tank is built around the needs of the Magnifica. I've had several of these Mags for over 3 years, one of them is 6 years in captivity. The majority are at least over one year captive.
In terms of light settings, I can't do that for you. I don't have Radions. However, simply put, raise your white channel to 100%, and lower your blue channels to a level that suits your eye. Adjust light intensity to ensure you don't over do it. A short acclimation to the new spectrum and gradual increase in intensity is always prudent.

Where it is sitting now, the location looks pretty good. From the video, your lighting is very blue. Bump up the white. Your flow is also too low. Ramp that up AND if not already, get nem.guards on the power heads.

The Mag looks pretty good. It is inflated, has a tight mouth, deep color, and it appears to be firmly attached. If it's sticky and eating, you're off to a good start.

@Seancj great job on the advice. You hit all the key points. I miss my mags. Shouldn't have sold them. My mertensi is about 24 inches across in my tank and another of my favorites.

Thank you very much

I appreciate the advice and your tanks all look amazing!!

I added my video below with the filter lens if you guys can take a look and tell me what you think. I honestly think the whites are really high for my Radions. Whites are set at 100 with the intensity at 100

For video it's best to provide via youtube. I couldn't get it to work.
