So, we're remodeling the computer room and I semi-jokingly suggested I could put a nice aquarium on that empty wall...to my utter shock, The Other Half said yes!
The space in question would allow a tank up to 56" x 24" and the floor is concrete slab, so no weight issues. I quite like the idea of a low/wide tank, but not as low as most frag tanks and width is limited by a window, so I'm seriously considering the Landen 120p. This rimless comes in at 47.2" x 19.7" x 19.7" and is 72.2 gallons. There's a stand made for it available on Amazon.
Does anybody have experience with either this specific tank or a rimless tank in this size range? I've only used nano rimless in the past. Or a suggestion for a better tank in the same size range (56x24 max)?
Also, what sort of plumbing would you recommend with a tank this size and shape? I'm thinking an HOB overflow (no way I'm drilling), sump with refugium (cheap 20g long maybe?), skimmer, and a powerhead or two.
I plan to keep corals and inverts primarily with some macro algae. I want an urchin (so I can give it a hat!) and I like crustaceans of all kinds. The fish will be a secondary consideration, maybe a school of something (Gobies? Cardinals?) and a Mandarin (after I establish the copepods).
All ideas, thoughts, experiences, etc welcome! This will be my first mid-size tank of any kind (nano is my game), so all advice appreciated!
