So, we're remodeling the computer room and I semi-jokingly suggested I could put a nice aquarium on that empty wall...to my utter shock, The Other Half said yes! :astonished-face::astonished-face::eek:

The space in question would allow a tank up to 56" x 24" and the floor is concrete slab, so no weight issues. I quite like the idea of a low/wide tank, but not as low as most frag tanks and width is limited by a window, so I'm seriously considering the Landen 120p. This rimless comes in at 47.2" x 19.7" x 19.7" and is 72.2 gallons. There's a stand made for it available on Amazon.

Does anybody have experience with either this specific tank or a rimless tank in this size range? I've only used nano rimless in the past. Or a suggestion for a better tank in the same size range (56x24 max)?

Also, what sort of plumbing would you recommend with a tank this size and shape? I'm thinking an HOB overflow (no way I'm drilling), sump with refugium (cheap 20g long maybe?), skimmer, and a powerhead or two.

I plan to keep corals and inverts primarily with some macro algae. I want an urchin (so I can give it a hat!) and I like crustaceans of all kinds. The fish will be a secondary consideration, maybe a school of something (Gobies? Cardinals?) and a Mandarin (after I establish the copepods).

All ideas, thoughts, experiences, etc welcome! This will be my first mid-size tank of any kind (nano is my game), so all advice appreciated!

Great luck on that one!

We started with a 55 gallon after watching tanked... LOL

Then bought a 135 and a 240 we never put up.

Finally did the 470 + 200 gallon sump... almost ended our marriage... (Not really, but there were some tense nights lol)

Got more into the hobby with TankStop.com last year and mentioned to my wife something smaller.

I'm going to covert the media room in our new house to my office. Add a huge window for the great view and we're doing all wood upstairs.

I mentioned to her, maybe I should get a small tank. Was thinking 20-30 gallons. Thought it would be interesting to chronicle for the site... and she was like, yeah sounds good, like less than 120 gallons?

Blew my mind... or maybe she wants out... :thinking-face:
