Hey there

new to the forum - looking to start my salt water journey - found an Aquaone Reef 300l S2 for a solid price.

Looking at the reviews of the equipment included in the package - I’m considering changing the skimmer to a RSK-600 and the return pump to some DC driven instead.

Cant find the specs on the lights - but wondering if they need to be changed to work for coral? And do I need more than one wave pump? Also looking at the Aquaone ATO system - read that it was worth the upgrade for the piece of mind.

Other than that - happy to start out with a basic kit and work upwards - my main goal is some coral (soft, lps) - a solid CUC, and maybe around 8-12 fish max.

Any tips greatly appreciated!

Greetings and welcome to the reef! A DC pump and ATO are solid upgrades, as is the skimmer. As far as lighting goes, from the information I can find, it appears as though it comes with a T5 lighting solution. T5's are tried and true, provide sufficient par, and an even blanket of light without shading. No need to upgrade those. I look forward to seeing your build thread. Happy reefing!

Namaste.

Welcome @byront to R2R.

I would suggest that you start a build thread HERE to document your new build. It's also a great place to ask all your questions. Again, WELCOME.
